What types of steel does EighteenEight Group buy?

We usually buy stainless steel and nickel alloy in coil and sheet form. However, we also buy plate, tubing, bar, structurals and many other types of material. We are interested in all types of surplus steel, including secondary, obsolete, excess prime, rejected or dormant material.

Will EighteenEight Group buy narrow coils and drop cuts?

Yes. We buy narrow coils, slit coils and drop cuts that other steel buyers won't buy. We will buy nonstandard-sized sheets as well and coils as narrow as one or two inches.

Will EighteenEight Group buy damaged steel?

You may have steel that is unusable due to rust, stains, dents, nicks, waves or other damage. However, just because it is unsuitable for your purposes, doesn’t mean that someone else can’t use it. We will buy your steel and find a home for it elsewhere.

How does payment work?

EighteenEight Group has an excellent credit rating and always pays its bills on time. We normally pay within 30 days of receipt of your invoice, however, in special situations arrangements for faster payment or payment in advance can be made. Our bank and credit references are always available upon request.

How quickly will EighteenEight Group pick up your steel?

When EighteenEight Group buys your steel, our freight carrier will contact you within one to two business days to make shipping arrangements. In most cases, your steel will be shipped out within three business days.

Who pays for freight and shipping?

When EighteenEight Group buys your steel, we pay all freight and shipping costs. Our prices are FOB your facility. All you must do is load the steel onto the truck.

How much will EighteenEight Group pay for your steel?

While we always pays a fair price for your steel, the reality is that there is no magic formula for determining what secondary steel is worth. It is worth some amount that is higher than scrap value but lower than prime. In determining price, we take into account the type of material, the quality and quantity of your steel, the chemistries of your steel, the demand for your particular steel, the location of your facility, the current value of scrap metal, and the cost of freight.

Is there a minimum or maximum quantity of steel that EighteenEight Group will buy?

EighteenEight Group has the financial capability to buy thousands of tons of steel anywhere in North America. More importantly, we have the experience and know-how to ship your steel quickly and professionally.

Does EighteenEight Group buy scrap steel?

EighteenEight Group is not a scrap company and therefore we will always pay more for your steel than scrap value. If you are scrapping your drop cuts, narrow coils or rusty steel, then contact EighteenEight Group and get more money for your steel.
